課程概述 |
Judicial Behavior
This course, Judicial Behavior, will provide students with a unique opportunity to read and analyze cutting-edge studies that focus on the choices judges make. In my view, a realistic understanding of judicial behavior, which conventional legal instruction does not usually convey, is essential to the understanding and practice of law. Topics covered include (1) appointing justices, (2) getting into court, (3) lawyering, (4) decision making, and (5) relations between courts and the public.

This course will provide students with a unique opportunity to read and analyze cutting-edge studies that focus on the choices judges make. In my view, a realistic understanding of judicial behavior, which conventional legal instruction does not usually convey, is essential to the understanding and practice of law. Topics covered include the judges' motivations, litigants and lawyers, and relations between courts and the public/elected actors.
